Malik’s 77 and his seventh-wicket stand of 85 runs with Hemanth (42), saw HSBC pile up 200 as they were put into bat by Wings XI.

The Bankers then restricted their rivals to 130 for 7 for a 70-run victory which also saw Malik walk away with the man of the match award.

The 20-over tournament, organized by Dulsco SC in association with the Dubai Municipality, is being played at the Zabeel Park Cricket grounds, Dubai under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

After being asked to take the first strike, HSBC lost their opener Gul M for two. One-down Shabbir also did not last long and returned to the pavilion after contributing just two runs. Damian (29) and Sudhir (25) then added some valuable runs for the Bankmen.

It was left to Malik to boost their innings with a cameo innings of 77 made from 38 balls. Hemanth hit a hurricane 15-ball 42 which included two hits to the fence and four over it.

Anmol was the most successful bowler for HSBC with four wickets and conceded 34 runs. Sajid and Nadeem picked up one each for 22 and 29 runs respectively. Mansoor was the most expensive bowler conceding 54 runs in his four allotted overs.

Needing to score ten runs an over, Wings XI lost wickets at regular intervals and could only manage 130 losing seven wickets in the end.
