“I played with the bowlers. I was trying to upset the bowlers in order to find the gaps. It feels pretty good to chase down a 200 plus total against the Chennai Super Kings. They are a pretty good team. Hopefully, our batsmen can keep it going and the bowlers can chip in as well,” Maxwell said at the post-match presentation.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni gave credit where it is due and put the loss down to them not bowling well.
“The game was down to the batsman. We did well but they beat us fair and square,” Dhoni said. “When you score over 200, you have to remember the opposition has every chance of scoring it as well. It was a fantastic wicket, they batted really well. We should have done better with the ball. Bravo was not fit to bowl today. We played him purely as a batsman. So, we were a bowler short. Our batsmen did their job but our bowlers should have had different plans for different individuals. They didn’t bowl in the right areas. The margin of error is very small. Overall, it will be difficult for the bowlers because there was not much spin on that pitch,” he said.
