Ibsons Group down Gyan Steel, move into Bukhatir League semis

SHARJAH — Ayub Inayat and Irfan Sajid scored blistering half-centuries to steer Ibsons Group to a fine three-wicket victory over Gyan Steel in the quarter-finals of the Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium, said a press release.

Inayat cracked a scintillating 81 off just 37 balls which included 12 fours and four sixes while Sajid made 72 off 70 balls with six fours and two sixes as Ibsons Group, chasing a healthy 271 for victory, achieved the target in 44.3 overs.

Inspired by the exploits of their premier batsmen, Shehzad Boora (34 off 40 balls) and Baber Malik (27 off 33) also got into the act, contributing some decent scores to the total. Faisal Rasool, Tariq Mohammed and Syed Mubashir Ali snared two wickets each.

Earlier, Gyan Steel had built their innings on Bakhtiyar Palekar and Harris Khan, who both batted well to guide their team to a challenging score. Bakhtiyar scored 79 off 91 balls with 12 fours while Harris chipped in with 64 off 92 balls with five fours and one six.

Ansar Butt (35 off 20 balls) and Kashif Khan (26 off 17 balls with three fours and one six) were also among the runs, but all their efforts, in the end, went in vain as Ibsons did even better to settle the issue.
