Iftikhar, Ahmed shine

ABU DHABI - Haroon Iftikhar and Shafiq Ahmed stroked breezy half centuries to lead William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana to a final showdown with United Bank Limited in the ADCC Twenty20 summer League division two final on Thursday.

Gymkhana amassed 257 for four and restricted Precision Survey to 106 for seven for a resounding 151-run victory and UBL got the better of Adma Opco by 49 runs. Iftikhar hit seven fours in a 32-ball 56 and Ahmed smashed four sixes and three fours off 21 deliveries to stay unbeaten on 55. Owais Aftab then hit 31 from 11 balls to round off their inning in a flourish. Abdul Rahman (43) and Asif Ijaz (36) shared a 64-run stand for the second wicket to set the platform for UBL to post 177 for six.

Skipper Qazi Ayub, opening the bowling, took three for 27 with his wily off spinners while Zaheer Baig and Arshad Iqbal grabbed two wickets each to dismiss Adma to 128.
