In other matches played at Al Dhaid Cricket Village, the Indian High School rode on a fine half-century by Harshesh to beat Gulf Asian English School by 126 runs while Our Own English School, Sharjah, spearheaded by a five-wicket haul from Ishaan, defeated New Indian Modern School, Sharjah, by six wickets.
Bowling in tandem, Varun and Indrajit ripped through the tentative Our Own School batting to set up a big victory for Modern High School. Varun snared five wickets for just nine runs while Indrajit conceded just 11 for his four-wicket haul as Our Own High School, batting first, were shot out for just 64 in the 19th over.
Modern High School, in reply, raced to the modest victory in just 5.2 overs with Shorye Chopra remaining not out on 40.
The Indian High School seized the early initiative against Gulf Asian English School by scoring a healthy 167 for four with Harshesh (50) doing bulk of the scoring. Jay Joshi (38) and Akshith (30 not out) further consolidated the gains with some solid batting.
Gulf Asian English School, in reply, were bowled out for 41 in the 14 over with Kunal and Hareesh doing most of the damage by taking three wickets each. Jay rounded off a fine all-round performance by picking up two wickets to hasten the end of the Gulf Asian English School innings.
With Ishaan taking five wickets for just nine runs and Arshay snaring three for 19, New Indian Modern School, Sharjah, were shot out for 72 in the 14th over. Only Blesson (21) and Hariosh (15) could manage to reach the double-digit mark.
Our Own English High School, Sharjah, in reply, achieved the victory target in 10.2 overs with Ishaan (19) and Gukul (14) competing the formalities.
