Indika strikes fearsome form

SHARJAH - Indika Sampath turned in a superb all-round performance to steer Desert Cubs Cricket Academy to a crushing 10-wicket victory over ECB Blues in the Sharjah Summer Cup, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium on Saturday.

Sampath first snared four wickets for just 10 runs and then hammered a brisk unbeaten 55 off just 36 balls with six sixes to seal the victory in just 11.4 overs.

ECB Blues, batting first, were restricted to 98 for nine with Sampath doing most of the damage. Samarathunga also chipped in with two wickets for 20 runs. Only Shoaib Sarwar (20 off 17 balls) and Wasim Bari (15 off 13 balls) offered some resistance to the disciplined Desert Cubs attack.
