Visakhapatnam - Rain halted the proceedings of the Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday.

Put into bat, Sunrisers posted a formidable 176/4 in their 20 overs courtesy knocks from skipper David Warner (91) and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan (54). They put on a 130-run partnership for the first wicket.

For KKR, the pick of the bowlers was South African pacer Morne Morkel who claimed 2/31 off his four overs.

Rain then halted play after the conclusion of the first innings

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Warner scored a magnificent 91 to help his side put 177/4 on the board.

The pick of the bowlers for KKR was Morne Morkel taking two wickets for 31 runs.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and decided to field against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

KKR brought in South African spinner Johan Botha dropping Ryan ten Doeschate in the playing team.

Sunrisers made two changes bringing in Moises Henriques for Eoin Morgan and Bipul Sharma for Laxmi Ratan Shukla.
