Jai, Ambey in fiery form

DUBAI — Jai Prakash and Ambey Parwatkar played match winning roles for Nucaf Tellicherry and Yogi Group respectively in the Debonairs Pizza Floodlit Tournament conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at the ICC Global Academy cricket grounds in Dubai Sports City.

Cool Boys batting first unfortunately lost the wicket of inform UAE International Amjad Ali in the very first over as Avadoot Amonkar had him caught with nothing on the board. Salman Malik then took the attack to the Yogi bowlers making a quick 27 runs with three boundaries.

Young Vignesh and Ambey, along with skipper Shiva Pagarani then bowled well in tandem to prise out seven wickets between themselves with Shiva and Vignesh picking up two each.

Shaimon Anwar and Faizan then made light work of the target putting on 84 runs for the first wicket. Shaimon made 42 runs in 25 balls with eight fours and a six while Faizan made a quick 22 runs with four boundaries. In the second game of the evening Nucaf Tellicherry batted first and saw contributions from all their top order batsmen.

Mohammed Asif 38, Zamin Jaleel 32, gave them a good start. Skipper Jai Prakash then played a blinder of a knock rattling off a rapid fire 51 runs laced with four sixes to help set a formidable target of 197 runs. Amal Karu of HSBC was the most successful bowler picking up three wickets for 19 runs while Fahad and Shahzad picked up two wickets each.

HSBC also had five of their top order batsmen including Sudhir 32, Shahzad 24, Gul Khan 23, making good starts but could not build upon it losing wickets at crucial stages but did well to fight back against a good bowling attack but fell short of the target by 44 runs as Murtuza Ali picked up two wickets for 12 runs to restrict the bankers.
