Kanse hit 61 off 64 balls with six fours and one six and Anwar made 35 off 26 balls to help their side overhaul Zambia’s modest total of 196 for nine with 20 overs to spare.

Coached by former South Africa international Peter Kirsten, the Zambian team is in the UAE to prepare for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 8 to be held in Kuwait from November 6.

Batting first, the visitors built their innings around Abid Abdullah who scored 66 of 121 balls with six fours. Imran Suleman (35 off 50 balls) was the main scorer as the Zambian team struggled to cope with the spot-on ECB team attack. Khurram Saeed and Anwar snared two wickets each while Manjula Guruge, Moiz Shahid, Wasim Bari and Fahad Al Hashimi picked one each to restrict the visitors.

The ECB, in reply, never felt threatened and accomplished the task without much fuss. Rohan Mustafa (33 off 20 balls) and Mohsin (26 off 27 balls) also contributed to the team’s cause.

Brief scores: Zambia 196 for nine in 50 overs (Abid Abdullah 66, Imran Suleman 35, Sarfraz Sopariya 19; Khurram Saeed 2-22, Shaiman Anwar 2-28) vs ECB Development XI 200 for three in 30 overs (Prabodhan Kanse 61, Shaiman Anwar 35, Rohan Mustafa 33, Mohsin 26 not out, Indika Sampath 16; Mohammed Mitha 2-34). Man-of-the-match: Prabodhan Kanse.
