Khan, Jones Shine as The British School Win Inter-school Tourney

ABU DHABI — Captain Uzair Khan and Luc Jones came up with fine all-round displays to help The British School lift the Lifebuoy Auh Inter-School Cricket Tournament title at the Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium over the weekend.

The British School scored a thumping nine-wicket win over Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School, in the final.

Uzair Khan took two wickets and cracked an unbeaten half-century, while Luc Jones snapped up three wickets and scored a half-century to put it across Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School.

Opting to bat, Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed School were shot out for 180 in 24.2 overs. They struggled to get going, losing six wickets for just 85 runs before Ahmed Yousef rescued them with a top score of 42. His knock, which came from 35 balls, was studded with four boundaries and two sixes.

Lower down the order, Wajid Khan scored 34 from 43 balls with six boundaries. Earlier, captain and one-down batsman Ikram-u-Din made 25 from 22 balls with five boundaries, while Inyat Amir cracked 22 from 16 balls with two boundaries and a six.

Luc Jones snapped up three wickets for 18, while Patrick Hyde, Uzair Khan and Nick White took two wickets each.

The British School hardly broke into a sweat and cruised to the target in 19.2 overs. Openers Luc Jones and Uzair Khan made fine half-centuries to guide them home. Captain Uzair Khan top scored with an unbeaten 67 from 58 balls with nine boundaries, while Luc Jones made 50 from 55 balls with eight boundaries, before being castled by Wajid Khan.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School captain Ikram-u-Din used 10 bowlers but failed to stop The British School.
