Interface Transworld opened their campaign with a convincing 30-run victory over Gyan Steel, but fell short of their target by just seven runs in the second match against Sharjah Club.
Playing against Gyan Steel, Interface Transworld seized the early initiative, scoring a healthy 139 in the allotted overs. Puneet Mehra (43 not out off 26 balls with three fours and one six) and Nalin Khaitan (30 off 22 balls with two fours) did bulk of the scoring.
With man-of-the-match Yash Makkar striking repeated blows, Interface Transworld shot out Gyan Steel for 109 in the 18th over. Yash, who opened the bowling with Tushar Pant, picked up four wickets for 25 runs while Tushar and Fahad Tariq made inroad into the tentative Gyan Steel batting line-up by taking two wickets each.
For Gyan Steel, who lost half of their side for just 26 runs, Mubashir Syed offered some worthwhile resistance to a charged-up Interface attack, remaining not out on 30 off 37 balls.
In the second match, Interface Transworld had their moments, but they stumbled on the finishing line. Chasing a challenging 145 for victory, they could manage 137 for nine despite a 56-run stand for the second wicket between Pranav Arora (27 off 30 balls) and Vivek Regi (24 off 27 balls).
UAE national Salman Farooq was the most successful Sharjah Club bowler, taking three wickets for 17 runs while Usman and Farhan Siddiqui picked up two each to seal a fine victory.
Earlier, Sharjah Club needed good contributions from Rashid Khan (45 off 29 balls with six fours and one six) and Khurram (35 off 39 balls) who put on 61 runs for the second wicket, to consolidate their innings while Usman chipped in with 34 off 28 balls with three fours.
