Pakistan, who will be locked in battle against South Africa for a month-long tour consisting two Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals and two Tests, arrived at the Abu Dhabi International Airport 6.45am by an Etihad Airways flight from Lahore.

The series is Pakistan’s home series.

The team, which checked into the Royal Le Meridien, was scheduled to have a practice session at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium in the evening but postponed it to Sunday evening. They preferred to do a light workout in the gym at the hotel.

Shahid Afridi, who has a huge following in this region, will lead Pakistan in the two Twenty20 Internationals and the five One-Day Internationals. Misbah-ul-Haq will lead Pakistan in the two Test matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The tour gets going with the first of the two Twenty20 Internationals on October 26 at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The first T20 is a charity match for the Pakistan flood victims.

Following the two T20s, the teams will play two One-Day Internationals in Abu Dhabi before they move to Dubai for the remaining three One-Day Internationals. Then, both teams meet in the first Test in Dubai from November 12. The second Test will be played in Abu Dhabi from November 20.

Prior to the team’s departure from Lahore, Ijaz Butt, chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was scheduled to brief the players about the PCB’s new code of conduct. But he could not do so due to his personal commitments.

The team reported to their new manager Intikhab Alam at the National Cricket Academy. Alam, who has been to the UAE as coach, took over from Yawar Saeed after the controversial England tour.

Alam briefed the players about the new code of conduct and stressed on the need to maintain discipline on the tour. The South African team will arrive on Sunday night.
