Patil powers Yogi Group to thumping victory
SHARJAH — Swapnil Patil slammed a brilliant century to power Yogi Group to a massive 184-run victory over Nucaf Tellicherry in the 36th Ten Sports Bukhatir League ŒA’ Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium, a press release informed.
The former Ranji Trophy player from Mumbai virtually toyed with the innocuous Tellicherry attack, scoring 123 off 110 balls which included six fours and four sixes as Yogi Group, batting first, rattled up a massive 368 for five in the allotted 50 overs.
Inspired by the exploits of Patil, Bilal Murtaza and Ambey Parwatkar also joined the run feast to add to the woes of a struggling Nucaf Tellicherry attack. Bilal weighed in with 75 off 52 balls with four fours and four sixes while Ambey contributed 65 off 78 balls with four fours and three sixes.
A little cameo from Prabodhan Kanse (38 off 36 balls with seven fours) saw Yogi Group finish their innings with a flourish.
Ajmal took two wickets for 26 runs, but the Yogi Group batsmen held sway almost at will.
With a mountain to climb, Nucaf Tellicherry, in reply, were restricted to 184 for nine. Ibthisam (46), Pranav Arora (40) and Jigra (33) could only manage to delay the inevitable. Salman Faris was the most successful Yogi Group bowler, taking four wickets for 22 runs while Ajmal picked two for 26 to seal an emphatic for their side.
