Qureshi, Kumara steer Adma-Opco to semifinals

ABU DHABI — Aamir Qureshi and Sujith Kumara hit swashbuckling half centuries to steer Adma-Opco to the semifinals in the ADCC Twenty20 Summer League division two tournament after a stunning two-wicket win over Abu Dhabi Airport Technicians.

The openers shared a 74-run stand in seven overs with Qureshi (52) being the more adventurous, hitting five sixes and four fours. Kumara (72) also struck five sixes and a couple of fours for their team to score the winning runs with four deliveries to spare and a meeting with United Bank Limited.

Precision Survey defeated Al Ain Sportplex by 27 runs to join them in the last four and a showdown with William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana.

Ishitiaq Khan and Kashif Yaqoob, the opening bowlers did most of the damage by claiming seven wickets between them to bowl out Sportplex to 154 in reply to Precision Survey’s 181 for eight.

Brief scores: Adma-Opco bt Abu Dhabi Airport Technicians by 2 wickets. ADAT 189 for 6 in 20 overs (Mohammed Usman 40 not out). Adma 190 for 8 in 19.2 overs (Aamir Qureshi 52, Sujith Kumara 72, Nafees Ahmed 3-33).

Precision Survey bt Al Ain Sportplex by 27 runs. Precision Survey 181 for 8 in 20 overs (Ijaz Kiani 73, Bilal Saleem 3-12). Al Ain Sportplex 154 all out in 18 overs (Shah Hussain 45, Ishtiaq Khan 3-33, Kashif Yaqoob 4-29).
