Rihan Mohammed’s Magnificent Century Leads ZCA to Win in Interface Gulf Cup Under 12 Match

ABU DHABI — Opening batsman Rihan Mohammed blasted his way to a magnificent unbeaten century as Zayed Cricket Academy plundered a 140-run win over Westminster YTCA in the inaugural under-12 25 overs match of the Interface Gulf Cup at the DPS ground in Jebel Ali. The tournament is being organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy (YTCA) in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Rihan, who was named man of the match later, smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes in his 69-ball knock to help Zayed Cricket Academy put on a massive total of 222 runs for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs.

Aditya with an unbeaten 39 off 25 balls, which contained four boundaries was the next highest ZCA scorer.

Westminster YTCA deployed eight bowlers to no avail against Rihan’s onslaught. Only Justin (1 wicket for 29 runs) and Sparsh ( 1 wicket for 29) tasted success for Westminster YTCA.

In reply, the Westminster-YTCA batsmen could manage to score only 80 runs before being bowled out in 19 overs.

Aditya was the lone Westminster-YTCA batsman to impress with 21 runs off 29 balls. Justin D’Souza (13) and Asad (12) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. For ZCA, Yodin clinched three wickets for just nine runs.

In another match, Mathew Jose’s all-round performance helped ECT Dubai hand Westminster-YTCA their second straight defeat. ECT Dubai cruised to a seven wicket win at the DPS ground.

Jose claimed four wickets for four runs and Akshay took three for 12 as Westminster-YTCA crashed to 68 all out in 22.2 overs.

In reply, ECT Dubai took just 11.5 overs to score 69 runs for the loss of three wickets. Mathew, who was named the man.

Hum FM backing

Meanwhile, as a major boost to the tournament, 106.2 Hum FM has backed the tournament as official radio partners, said Manish Dhakan, tournament director of YTCA.
