Salman, Shah shine in 
Al Marjan’s win

ABU DHABI - Al Marjan, aided by a century from Mohammed Salman and a five-wicket haul from Sabar Shah, romped home by a comfortable 162 runs over Phoenix in the Time Electro Contracting division-two tournament over the weekend.

Salman stroked a breezy 106 for his side to amass 258 for eight and Shah grabbed five for 14 from his five overs to bundle out Phoenix for 96.

The youngsters from the MCC-Zayed Cricket Academy pulled off a splendid seven-wicket win over West Life.

Mohammed Omer, the 16-year-old opener, anchored their innings with an unbeaten 60 after Hamza Qureshi (4-23), Geet Sahani (3-16) and Udara Perera (2-29) had restricted West Life to 118 for nine in the truncated 20 overs.

Omer’s run-a-ball knock contained five fours and a couple of sixes, while Jawad Qazi, the captain, chipped in with a useful 26 to see the Academy clinch the game with two deliveries to spare.

Brief scores: Al Marjan bt Phoenix by 162 runs. Al Marjan 258 for 8 in 25 overs (Mohammed Salman 108). Phoenix 96 all out in 20.1 overs (Sabar Shah 5-14).

MCC-Zayed Cricket Academy bt West Life by 7 wickets. West Life 118 for 9 in 20 overs (Hamza Qureshi 4-23). Zayed Academy 119 for 4 in 19.4 overs (Mohammed Omer 60 not out).

Emirates Realty bt Abu Dhabi Gentlemen by 2 wickets. Emirates Realty 263 for 8 in 25 overs (KP Shahnavas 57, Mohammed Nuafal 54, Mohammed Rufide 49) vs Abu Dhabi Gentlemen 264 for 8 in 24.4 overs (Qudaratullah Khan 60, Saeed Nawaz 53).

Abu Dhabi Badshah bt Serco by 14 runs. Abu Dhabi Badshah 190 for 4 in 20 overs (Hilal Khan 72) vs Serco 175 for 5 in 20 overs.

Colombo Lions bt Hyder by 7 wickets. Hyder 98 all out in 18.2 overs (Atif Ahmed 54 not out, Sohan Fernando 4-17) vs Lions 102 for 3 in 14.2 overs (Aruna de Silva 54).
