The tournament is being organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council at the Sharjah stadium.

Bowling with a nagging accuracy, Sanjeewa ripped through the Lanka Lions innings, conceding just 23 runs for his six-wicket haul to set up a second successive victory for the premier team from Abu Dhabi.

Lanka Lions, batting first, were bowled out for a meagre 101 in the 24th over with Oshada (29 off 28 balls) and Kelum (23 off 16 balls) offering some worthwhile resistance to a charged-up NMC attack.

Besides, Sanjeewa, Manjula also tormented the Lanka Lions batsmen, taking three wickets for 32 runs.

NMC, in reply, did stutter early in their innings, losing quick four wickets, but Asim and Atif held the innings together to ensure a facile victory for their side.

Asim remained not out on 33 off 58 balls while Atif chipped in with an unbeaten 31 off 33 balls to suffocate Lanka Lions hopes of making a comeback in the match.

Athula was the most successful bowler for Lana Lions, taking three wickets for 25 runs, but his efforts weren’t enough to threaten the NMC innings.

Brief scores:

NMC beat Lanka Lions SC by six wickets:

Lanka Lions SC 101 all out in 23.5 overs (Oshadha 29, Kelum 23; Sanjeewa Dias 6-23, Manjula 3-32, Nalin 1-32) NMC 105 for four in 25.2 overs (Asim 33 not out, Atif 31 not out; Athula 3-25).

Man of the match: Sanjeewa Dias of NMC. Umpires: Farid Malik and Iftikhar Ali.
