Batting first, UAE batsmen were simply in brilliant form as they made a massive 510/5 in 50 overs. Saqib Ali (141 not out) was the team’s best batsman by a mile as he hit a scintillating century. Naeem (98) and A. Rehman (76 not out) also made invaluable contributions with the bat.

In reply, Bhutan were never in the game as they kept losing wickets and were eventually all out for a paltry 73, giving UAE a massive victory.

This was UAE’s first match in Group B. UAE’s next match will be against Afghanistan on Friday in their group match.

UAE squad: Khurram Khan, captain; Naeemuddin Aslam, vice-captain; Arshad Ali; Saqib Ali; Abdul Rehman; Shadeep Silva; Amjad Ali; Salman Farooq; Ahmad Raza; Qasim Zubair; Shoaib Sarwar; Fayyaz Ahmad; Qadar Nawaz and Indika Sampath.
