Savant shines as DPS beat

SHARJAH — Akilesh Savant slammed 92 of just 65 balls that helped DPS, Dubai score a comfortable 96-run win over St Mary’s Catholic High School, Dubai in the under-13 boys Maxtalent Acer cup 2010 UAE inter-school cricket tournament played at Max Way ground.

The tournament is organised under the aegis of Sharjah Cricket Council and supported by Aqua FinaandAl Jazeera Poultry Farm.

Batting first, Akhilesh’s innings studded with eight boundaries and three sixes and a late cameo by Tushar (23) ensured DPS got a healthy total of 164 for three in 20 overs.

In reply, SMCHS failed to make a match of the chase as they managed only 68 runs.

In another match, Al Ain Junior School notched up their first win against Dubai Scholars in the under-17 category. Al Ain School had lost their first match narrowly to IHSDubai.

Al Ain, batting first, the openers put a highest partnership of the tournament accumulating 108 runs. Saleem (88 of 59 balls) andGaurav (48 of 45 ball) were the star scorers. Saleem was aggressive in his knock scoring five sixes and seven boundaries, while Gaurav played the second fiddle.

Al Ain managed 172 for five in 22 overs.

In reply, Dubai Scholars were all out for 82. Ghazanfar picked up three wickets, while Salem took two.
