Shetty guides Eurocon past Phoenix

SHARJAH - Vikrant Shetty smashed a scintillating unbeaten half-century to lead Eurocon Alubond CC to a fine four-wicket victory over Phoenix Medicines in the Sharjah Summer Cup, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah Stadium.

Shetty cracked 58 not out off just 38 balls with six fours and one six as Eurocon Alubond, chasing Phoenix Medicines’ competitive total of 173 for seven, achieved the victory target with two balls to spare.

Phoenix Medicines, batting first after winning the toss, built their innings around Rohan Mustafa who slammed 76 off 46 balls with six fours and four sixes. Imran Khan (26 not out off 14 balls) and Asif Mumtaz (24 off 25 balls) further consolidated the innings.

Nasir Aziz, Shadeep Silva and Mohammed Azam took two wickets to restrict the Phoenix Medicines score.

Eurocon Alubond, in reply, survived some anxious moments before romping home.

Shetty led their batting charge in the company of Abdul Rehman who made 39 off 28 balls with three sixes while Mohammed Azam chipped in with a fluent 26 off 12 balls with four sixes.
