Six-wicket Aneesh stars for Pacers Ramadi

Batting first, Pacers Ramadi amassed 248 runs thanks to three half-centuries by Aneesh, Shahzad and Jamil who punished AMI bowlers for every loose ball. Later they bowled out AMI for a paltry 94 runs in 19.2 overs. The 20-over tournament is being organised by Dulsco SC in association with the Dubai Municipality and is being played under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council.

Aneesh hit four sixes and two boundaries as he hit a speedy 89 from 28 balls. Aneesh then spun a web around the AMI batsman claiming six wickets in his 2.2 overs.

Earlier openers Shahzad and Jamil put on 97 for the first wicket. While Shahzad hit a 26-ball 58 (six sixes, and two fours), Jamil scored 57 (seven sixes and one four) from 31 deliveries. The others who contributed for Pacers Ramadi included Sherif 17, Javed 16, and Reji Mohan and Binay 11 each. Najeeb claimed three wickets whilst conceding 32 runs for the losers. Naseer bagged two wickets for 33 runs.

Facing a daunting task, AMI succumbed to pressure and lost wickets at regular intervals. They lost opener Najeeb with no score with the score on 3 and later saw two wickets falling with the addition of one run.

With no batsmen able to tackle the rival bowling AMI were bowled out for a paltry 94 in 19.2 overs. Only Sajeewa 29, Gul 16 and Kapil 11 offered some resistance.

Aneesh wiped out the last six batsmen in his spell of 14 balls at the expense of six runs. He was later named the man of the match. Shahzad claimed two wickets for 12 runs.

On Saturday Uniforge Bhatkal CC had defeated Rotory Hum in the same group.
