Tanvir shines as Ibsons prevail
SHARJAH — Ibsons CC produced a tidy all-round performance to beat Eurocon Alubond by 14 runs in the 36th Ten Sports Bukhatir League A Division Tournament, organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium, a press release said.
Defending a modest total of 222, Ibsons did well to bowl out their opponents for 208 in the 47th over with Jamshed and Tanvir picking up three wickets each.
Ibsons, batting first, built their innings around Irfan who remained unbeaten on 41 off 27 balls. Baber Malik (39 off 32 balls with eight fours) and Tanvir (26 off 39 balls with four fours) further consolidated the innings with some useful contributions to the total.
Nasir was the most successful Eurocon bowler, taking three wickets for 46 runs while Azam, Asif Ghouri and Adnan snared two wickets to restrict the Ibsons score.
But their efforts were not good enough in the end.
Eurocon Alubond, in reply, had their moments when Naemuddin Aslam was going great guns with the bat, but his exit swung the match in favour of Ibsons CC. Aslam slammed a fluent 64. Though Nasir Aziz and Zulfiqar chipped in with 26 runs each, Ibsons remained in control of the proceedings.
Tanvir, who was later named man of the match, rounded off a fine all-round performance, claiming three wickets for 23 runs.
