The hosts recorded their first victory when they trounced Dry Docks World Dubai by 128 runs in their second Group D match of the 20-over tournament which is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.
Tariq hit 13 sixes and 11 boundaries as Dulsco, batting first on winning the toss, piled up 218 for the loss of six wickets. After they lost both the openers – Shazad and Shamsi—with only 26 runs on the scoreboard Tariq single-handedly raised the bar and helped Dulsco put up a difficult target to chase for Dry Docks. He was run out after he had helped put on 168 runs for the third wicket. Tariq faced 70 balls during his stay at the crease and hit the rival bowlers all over the ground. His partner Nauman Bashir gave him most of the strike and put on over 150 runs for the third wicket.
Tariq not only excelled with the bat, but also made use of his skills with the ball to grab three Dry Docks wickets and seal victory for his team.
Nauman bashir contributed 16 and captain Fene made 15 with 27 runs coming as extras.
Janzab claimed two wickets for the losers conceding 32 runs.
Before Tariq’s 151, Yogi Group’s Shaiman Butt and Swapnil Patil had scored centuries in their record 307 against HSBC.
Facing a daunting task, Dry Docks World Dubai crumbled under pressure and were all out for 128 in 17.4 overs.
Brar (26), Rafaqat (24), Javeed (23), Themoor (21) and Amir (10) offered some resistance but could not prevent Dulsco from earning their first points.
Besides Tariq’s three wickets for 22 runs for the winners, vice-captain Gurvinder also bagged three wickets whilst conceding 19 runs. Shazad and Rishi claimed two each and gave away 33 and 24 runs respectively.
Tariq was named the man of the match for his excellent display with the bat and the ball.
John Neale, Managing Director; Johnson Alexander, Director, HR and QHSE; Rajesh Ramachandran, Director Finance and Administration; and Valerian Dsouza, General Manager, Logistics of Dulsco, attended the match.
