West Star Shipping trounce Nucaf

DUBAI - Krishna’s stylish knock of 80 runs helped West Star Shipping to beat Nucaf Tellicherry by 57 runs in the G Force Premier League 2010, organised under auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council, at Zabeel Park, according to a press release.

After a promising start in the competition, Nucaf lost badly in the second match. It is a must-win situation for them in their last league match.

Batting first, West Star Shipping posted 158 in 20 overs. Their opener Vineet scored 20 runs in 14 balls and one down batsman Krishna Kumar batted sensibly in making a 51-ball 80, including five sixes and three fours. For Nucaf Tellicherry, captain CTK Mashood produced the best figures, taking 3 for 18 in 4 over.

In reply, Nucaf Tellicherry got off to a bad start as opener Feroz lost his wicket in the first over. Jai Prakash and Shibith added 27 runs for the second wicket. Thereafter Nucaf lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 101 in 16.4 overs. Rejaz was the chief wicket-taker with 3-6 while Ajith and Zaheer took 2 wickets each.
