Yogi Group defeated Brookefield Multiplex by four wickets in their second Group A match of the 20-over tournament at Zabeel Park Cricket grounds, Dubai.

The tournament, organized by Dulsco Sports Club in association with Dubai Municipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Although Yogi Group made heavy weather of their chase to victory, they reached the target in 11.3 overs.

Earlier, Brookefield Multiplex, electing to bat first after winning the toss, were all out for a paltry 103 in 18.5 overs. Mohammed Rameez bagged three wickets for the winners, removing the top three rival batsmen to reduce Brookefield to 25 for 4.

Tariq gave some respectability to the Brookefield Multiplex innings with a well-made 37. Thereafter after losing two wickets on 62, and another batsmen one run later they could not gain any foothold in the match. Though Prashanth (19) and Darryl (15) made some valiant efforts to speed up things, Brookefield were all out for 103.

Besides Rameez’ three wickets for 19 runs, captain Shiva Pagrani, Salman and Kamran took two wickets each. Shiva’s three wickets cost him 30 runs while Salman conceded 15 runs and Kamran 11.

Yogi made a sedate start with their chase with the openers putting on 27 runs for the first wicket. After opener Ambey Parvatkar was run out for 14, his partner Prabodhan Kanse fell to Tariq for 26, which included one six and four fours.

In-form batsman Swapnil Patil, who hit a century in their first game, was out before he could open the account and became Tariq’s second victim. Shaiman Butt, who along with Patil was involved in a record 307 against HSBC, remained not out on nine.

Ajmal made 27 from 14 deliveries and hit three sixes and one four, while Avadhoot Amonkar hit a seven-ball 14, which included two massive sixes.

Rameez remained not out on four as Yogi Group reached the victory target in the third ball of the 12th over.

Rameez of Yogi Group was named the man of the match for his three wickets.
