Durham, who are the defending champions of the English County, once again proved their superiority as they scored 315 runs for four wickets and in reply contained YTCA to 203 for six wickets. Overall it was a better response from the YTCA lads, following their 132-run defeat in the first friendly match. Durham, batting first, were well served by GJ Muchall, who top-scored in the match with 101 runs off 75 balls. Muchall, who was severe on all the YTCA bowlers, smashed 14 boundaries and a six. Ben Stokes also contributed with an unbeaten 39 off 27 balls while former England cricketer, Ian Blackwell, was impressive in scoring 68 from 44 deliveries.

YTCA’s reply was spearheaded by Amjad, who tried to hold together the innings with a well compiled 77 off 75 balls. Amjad, hit seven boundaries and a six, as YTCA kept losing wickets.

Amjad and Pranav Arora (28) gave the home team something to cheer with a 84-run third wicket partnership, but the experienced Blackwell sent back both the batsmen in quick succession to dent YTCA’s hopes. Amjad was caught by C Rushworth.
