Two days after the American woman was found stabbed to death in the washroom, the Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior has released the CCTV footage of the suspect, dubbed as the ‘Reem Island ghost’, taken from the mall’s security cameras.
The video was released on the department’s various social media channels.
The video shows the veiled suspect wearing an abaya and black gloves entering the mall, getting in a lift and exiting on the floor on which the murder was committed. The suspect, whose gender is yet to be determined, is then seen walking towards the washroom.
The next footage shows the suspect running back to the lift amid commotion on the floor. Some bystanders are seen pointing in the direction of the suspect, but no one stopped the suspect from entering the lift.
The suspect is then seen exiting the lift in the parking area and fleeing. The video also shows the crime scene with blood-stained footprints outside the toilet in which the murder was committed. The blood-stained weapon used in the commission of the crime, which looks like a large kitchen knife, is also seen in the video.
The Ministry of Interior has urged the public to call 800-2626 if they have any information that could help in the investigation of the case.
