A driver allegedly lured a woman he had just met on social media to go out for a meal then raped her with the use of force, a court was told.
The Court of First Instance was told the 27-year-old Pakistani man invited his Filipina friend, who he had just met on a social networking site, to a meal then raped her in his car under duress.
He then stole her mobile phone and bank cards to stop her from calling the police.
He has been charged with rape and forcible theft.
The incident was reported on June 7 to Al Muraqqabat police.
The complainant, a Filipina saleswoman, 32, said the defendant picked her at around10:30 pm on June 6 to have al Suhoor meal together.
He drove to a sandy remote location in Al Mamzar where he beat her up; he hit her head against the seat, pulled her hair and then raped her.
She claimed he had tried earlier that day to sexually harass her but she rejected him.
On the way back, he took her phone and bank cards so she would not call for help. He threatened he would assault her if she reported him.
The woman felt so distraught of what happened and scared he might further hurt her she jumped out of the running car in Al Mutteena.
A Sri Lankan security guard, aged 41, said he saw the woman's fall from the car as it was being driven.
"It was at around 3:35 am. The driver kept going with the opened door. I got close to her and saw she was scared and crying. She was asking for help".
The guard gave her his mobile phone to make calls.
The police arrested the accused shortly after the woman reported him.
"She said they had met on WhatsApp. She gave us his mobile number and we tracked him to his place," a police sergeant.
"He admitted he raped her after she refused to have sex with him. He slapped her many times and ripped off her clothes".
The woman's phone and wallet were found in the driver's place. "He confessed he had deleted all the details in the woman's phone so she would not be able to trace him," the sergeant added.
The driver's DNA traces were found on the complainant's body and undergarment as shown in the forensic report.
The hearing has been adjourned to October 3.
