The Dubai Police have arrested 18 people wanted for different crimes in two weeks, including two people wanted by the Interpol, a senior police official said. The suspects arrested included those wanted for financial crimes amounting to Dh30 million, said Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation.
The arrests were made by 32 officers from the Dubai Police and the Ministry of Interior, during a field training on 'criminal operations' organised by the Crime Follow-up Department in collaboration with the training department. During the training, the participating officers registered 23 criminal cases, said Maj.-Gen. Al Mansouri.
He praised the efficiency of the officers who participated in the session for their success in registering cases and arresting the suspects.
Colonel Mohammed Ahli, Director of the Criminal Prosecution and Follow-up Department, said that the criminal operations course includes field courses for new officers, who will work on their own in the search and investigation operation to solve reported crimes.
The course has been designed by the General Department of Criminal Investigation with a focus on giving the officers on-the-field experience on investigation and provide them with in-depth information on legal and security affairs.
He pointed out that the outcome of the training session was impressive as 18 suspects, including two wanted by the Interpol, were arrested. The cases resolved by the participating officers included robberies, financial scams and others.
Maj.-Gen. Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri said that the course was the first in more than a year and was limited to a number of new officers in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Dubai Police. However, based on the directives of Lt.-Gen. Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, a number of new officers from the Ministry of Interior was also included.
