An eyewitness has recounted the last moments of the American school teacher who was stabbed to death by a woman, who was arrested in just 48 hours by the Abu Dhabi Police, after the heinous crime that took place on Reem Island on December 1.

“I saw the victim lying on the floor but she tried hard to get up and get out from the washroom where the alleged murderer had knifed her with multiple jabs,” the witness told 24ae website.

The eyewitness, who is identified as Paula only, said an Indian man tried to help her after she came out from the washroom door while she was walking unsteadily, but the security officials in the Boutik Mall where the incident took place did not do anything. “I yelled at them to call their boss to save the woman’s life,” she said.

“Security guards in the mall looked irresponsible and untrained to cope with such emergencies,” she remarked.

Paula who lives in the same building as the victim lived said, “As soon as I drew close to the injured woman, I discovered we were neighbours,” she said without elaborating.

“I have worked as a nurse and I know much about wounds... the stabs in the victim’s body were made by a professional and powerful person to cause such deep and thorough injuries,” she recounted, noting that there was a deep cut in the woman’s upper thigh and other cuts in the neck.

Paula said these were deadly stabs, and such wounds normally do not give adequate survival time.

She said an Indian man tried to press with his two hands on the place of the cuts, while I asked those who were around me to get me a jacket or a cover to warm her up. But, we had to lift her injured leg, and another man came to help followed by a British woman who seemed to be knowledgeable about first aid.

“We tried our best but the woman had bled profusely inside the restroom before she came out.”

“An Irish man came later, who turned out to be the in-charge in the mall, and when he saw the wounds he told me they were extremely deep, and I replied, “Yes they are”.

She said she had seen the suspect running and I thought he was a man since he looked huge with weird movements.

“That was a painful and critical time when I looked at the face of the victim, while she was looking at me,” said Paula adding, “I stood beside her head and her face looked pale after she had lost much blood.”

“I stood there and felt like crying since I knew that we couldn’t help her.”

Paula also said the ex-husband of the victim had arrived in Abu Dhabi on Thursday to take his 11-year-old twin sons with him.
