A nanny was arrested by the anti-narcotics police in Al Muraqqabat in possession of a quantity of crystal meth which she allegedly intended to sell to a friend for Dh1,000.
The 41-year-old Filipina nanny was arrested on September 14, the Court of First Instance was told.
She only admitted in court taking two types of drugs but she pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of the substance with the intention to sell. She claimed the quantity found on her was for personal use only.
An anti-narcotics police corporal said they arrested the woman based on a tip-off. "A female officer searched her and found a bag containing crystal meth with her. She confessed that she was to sell the quantity to a compatriot for Dh 1,000".
She reportedly admitted during the investigation that one of her friends had asked her to get the same substance for him for Dh 300. He later ordered another quantity for Dh 1,000.
The police officers apprehended her as she was on her way to deliver the drugs to her friend at a hotel. The drugs were seized from her.
She confessed she had taken that substance about one week prior to the investigation at the public prosecution.
The Crime Lab report showed the nanny had used drugs as her urine sample test showed it contained traces of meth and amphetamine.
The trial will resume on December 15.
