More than 200 people have been arrested over violations of residency law in Sharjah.
Sharjah Police arrested 210 violators since the Criminal Investigation Department launched a campaign three weeks ago.
A police official said: "Violators, including people absconding from sponsors and others engaged in several illegal activities, were nabbed from various parts of the emirate."
The Sharjah Police have referred all the arrested to the department concerned.
The Sharjah Police urged residents to report those who work contrary to the law and not to deal with the offenders in any way as it exposes them to legal accountability.
The residents were also urged to inform the police when they come across suspicious activities and help prevent crimes by calling 901.
Sharjah Police stressed the importance of community participation in curbing illegal activities including begging.
