The Dubai Police have arrested a “dangerous drug dealer” in an operation code-named ‘Disguise’. Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said the operation was executed by a joint team of the police forces of Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Sharjah, and the Anti-Narcotic Department at the Ministry of Interior.
An Arab national identified as Kh.M. was arrested in the operation and 30kg of hashish and 1,500 narcotic pills were seized from him.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotic, said the accused pretended to be a Gulf national and dressed accordingly. He worked in a real estate company and allegedly received several quantities of drugs in the UAE.
Police investigations revealed that the accused is the head of some drug dealers in the country. He reportedly has contacts with drug dealers abroad, who sent him drugs to sell in the UAE.
The Dubai Police passed the information about the whereabouts of the accused to the Abu Dhabi Police, who raided his house. The accused, however, managed to escape. Police officials continued to monitor the accused. Investigations revealed that the accused was holed up in a flat in Sharjah, which was raided by the Sharjah Police and the accused was arrested.
During his interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he possessed the drugs and revealed that he buried it under the sand. He led the police to the location and the police dug out the hashish and pills, which were placed in plastic bags.
Colonel Thani praised the joint police teams under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior for their efforts and their role in protecting community members from drugs.
