Residents of Sharjah were urged to take precautionary measures before travelling abroad for long vacation.
An official at Sharjah Police has urged people who are planning summer vacation vocation to register at "My home safety is my neighbour safety" programme in the wake of rise in reports of burglaries and thefts, especially during summer.
He said that police has recently launched the services for residents to report any suspicious movement and prevent thefts at houses and villas.
Burglars wait of the owners to leave for vacation and steal all precious items kept unsafe in the house.
He said that it's important to involve neighbours in the programme as this would help a great deal in ensure safety and stability of the community.
The residents can register at official site of police, www.shjpolice.gov.ae or at any comprehensive police station with the house registration details including contact numbers of the inhabitants.
The official added that home security and protection must also include prevention from fire by switching off the gas, electricity and electronic units.
If travelling by road, ensure safety of the vehicle tyres and avoid overloading of luggage.
Police patrols will monitor the house of those who register with the home safety service.
