A 22-year-old man has been charged in court with physically assaulting a 67-year-old man with a metal object before stealing Dh14,000 from him.
According to prosecution records, the Emirati defendant, along with an accomplice, pulled the elderly Syrian out of his car after they posed as policemen.
They then intentionally damaged his car. A.M. has been charged in the Court of First Instance with forcible theft, impersonation of police officer, physical assault and intentional damage of others' property.
The complainant, a driver, said he was sitting in his car when A.M. and another man opened his car, which was not locked. "They claimed they were cops and asked for my ID card".
A.M pulled out his ID, driving licence, car's registration card and Dh14,000 from his pocket.
They then dragged him out of the car. A.M. then hit him with what looked like a sickle.
