An Arab allegedly forged an official document and misused it to embezzle Dh39 million, the Abu Dhabi criminal court heard on Tuesday.
The Public Prosecution earlier referred the Arab to court after having received a report that the accused had forged an official document issued by a public notary in the country.
The accused was said to have tampered with the text of a document and entered incorrect data with the intent of using the altered document to enable him to embezzle Dh39 million through a fraudulent scheme.
However, when brought before court, the accused denied the charge leveled against him.
The court ordered the adjournment of the case to March 21 to listen to the testimony of a witness - an employee with the notary public office - who had attested the documents.
