According to court records, the complainant had employed his brother-in-law and nephew in his company on the request of his poverty stricken sister. But the duo (father and son) harboured ill-feelings towards the complainant and therefore, cheated and robbed him.

However, the complainant just sacked his brother-in-law and retained his nephew in the company, as he thought his nephew was still young and could someday become a good man. Nonetheless, his nephew breached his trust and stole Dh10,000 as well as jewels that his uncle (complainant) had bought and kept in his car to give it to his wife.

The nephew took advantage of the fact that his uncle was away and made off in his uncle’s car with the latter’s jewels and cash.

Suspecting his nephew of the robbery, the uncle reported the matter to the police.

The police after checking the video footage taken from a camera in the street near the uncle’s company, identified the accused who turned out to be the nephew.

Subsequently, the accused was arrested and he confessed to his crime.

The Public Prosecution referred the man to court on the charge of theft.

The Abu Dhabi court sentenced the man to two years in jail followed by deportation after serving the jail term after the uncle refused to respond to his sister’s calls to waive his rights before the court.
