A Pakistani man, accused of sexually harassing a shopper at a supermarket, has been caught on surveillance camera groping the woman.

The 28-year-old carpenter did not show up in the Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The complaint was registered in December 2016 with Al Rafaa police.

The complainant, a 32-year-old Filipina, said the incident happened at 9pm on December 19 last year. "I had just picked up a garbage bin to buy and was carrying it before walking to the cashier, when I felt someone hand's on my behind. It was the defendant. He ran away when I hit him with the bin."

The woman, who is an assistant manager, then informed the security guards and the police were called.

CCTV footage showed the man standing behind the complainant and groping her on purpose.

During interrogation, the accused claimed he touched the woman by mistake.

The complainant identified him among other suspects at the police station.
