A 39-year-old British manager admitted in court that he grew marijuana at his place for personal use.
The manager, identified as F.H., is accused of importing 34 cannabis plants and seeds, which he grew inside his flat in Al Barsha.
Different quantities of marijuana were seized from his place during a raid by Dubai Police anti-narcotics officers.
His urine sample also tested positive for hashish.
He has been charged in the Court of First Instance with drug abuse, smuggling of drugs with an intention to grow and possess it for personal use. The case dates back to June 29.
F.H. admitted in the investigation to the charges and said he had been using it. A police major told the prosecutor that the defendant willingly led them to where he kept the drugs in a microwave, on the balcony and in a cupboard. When questioned by the police, F.H. reportedly admitted that he had brought the seeds from India and smuggled them through the Dubai International Airport.
According to the Criminal Lab report, the 34 plants seized from F.H.'s place were cannabis plants.
The court will pronounce a verdict on November 26.
