A domestic worker, who sexually abused a boy when his parents were away on holiday, has been jailed for 10 years.
The Criminal Court of First Instance in Al Dhafra handed down the sentence to the Asian man after he was found guilty of molesting the child, who was below 10 years of age.
Official court documents stated that the Asian man had kissed the child and made him touch him inappropriately when the boy's parents had travelled abroad for a short holiday.
The family had apparently left their house and their child under the care of the man and a housemaid.
The Asian man, who was working for the Arab family, abused the boy when the housemaid had gone out to a shop.
Prosecutors said the child told his mother what the worker did to him when she returned from the holiday. She immediately informed her husband who lodged a complaint with the police.
Prosecutors charged him with molesting the child.
The man denied the charge in court stating the accusation was not true, and it was the child who acted strangely when he was alone in the house.
Prosecutors, however, presented evidence of the CCTV footage showing the worker as he sexually abused the child in his employer's home.
