The police managed to restore Dh30,000 which the suspect snatched from the front seat of the car belonging to a bank customer.

The suspect, identified as A.G.S, was arrested red-handed by the police standing behind him while he was trying to steal the cash.

“The CID who was on patrol near banks was watching the suspect as he asked the customer to check his car tyre. As the customer was looking at the tyre through the window, the thief snatched the envelope containing the cash. But he was in for a shock when he found the police behind him,” said a top officer at the Sharjah Police.

The victim was shocked to see what had happened and said the amount was to pay employees' salaries. He thanked the CID officers for their efforts.

During interrogation the suspect confessed that he was involved in many robberies targeting bank customers. He said he had entered the country through visit visa purposely to carry out such crimes.
