A 26-year-old married man was arrested on charges of sending vulgar messages, obscene videos and nude pictures to a woman here, police said on Tuesday.
Police said Ajay Pathak, a resident of Gurugram and the father of two children, was arrested. He earlier worked as a supervisor in a private company in Gurugram and is currently unemployed.
"Ajay Pathak used to send vulgar messages, nude pictures, obscene video calls through 'Whatsapp' and other internet platforms to a woman for the last couple of weeks," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said.
"Pathak was arrested on Monday night from his residence in Gurugram after police teams conducted a raid with the help of technical surveillance," Kumar said.
The woman, a resident of Punjabi Bagh, is a house wife. She on Monday filed a complaint against an unknown man.
"During investigation, we found the number which was used in the crime is not in use but after it was technically examined by cyber experts, we zeroed in on Pathak," Kumar said.
The police recovered two mobiles that Pathak used in the crime.
"On questioning, Pathak told police that he had found a mobile phone lying on the road last December. He threw the mobile phone but kept the SIM card for creating vulgar messages to various girls through this fake WhatsApp account by using the internet of another mobile," the DCP said.
He was sure that in this way he would be able to outsmart police, the officer said.
"While surfing the internet he found the Facebook page of the victim and obtained her mobile number and personal details. He then started sending nude pictures and committed other vulgar activities," the officer said.
