Police help settle 121 marital disputes out of court in Ajman

Ajman - "Every effort should be made to keep the family closely-knit."

As many as 121 marital disputes were amicably solved out of court by the Ajman community police during the last nine months. 
Captain Wafa Khalil, director of social support center at Ajman Police, said that it has succeeded in solving 535 varied cases, including family disagreements, marital discords and child abuse, since January this year.
The 121 cases of marital disputes settled without being referred to court helped prevent divorce between the couples.
The experts of the center pointed out that the differences between couples should be ironed out and divorce was not the solution to any problem. "Every effort should be made to keep the family closely-knit and ensure cohesion between their members." 
Some couples knock the courts, seek help from police or approach the center insisting on a divorce for petty reasons or minor rift. The social workers speak to them separately, understand the situation of both the parties, bring them together and talk them out of the problem.
The team of social workers of the centre also solved cases of negligence towards women and children, physical abuse of kids and other family disagreements. It dealt with the cases maintaining confidentiality and found appropriate solutions.
Captain Wafa stressed that the Ajman Police believe in contributing to the resolution of all family and community issues away from the corridors of the courts, and to provide social and psychological support to all those who need it.
She added that the social support center will continue to make efforts to ensure happiness for members of the community by helping them to resolve their disputes.
