The RAK Police, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Police, nabbed a culprit in an attempted murder case in just five hours.
According to the police, the 33-year-old suspect, an Asian, stabbed his 25-year-old female friend over personal animosity.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said the Central Operations Room was alerted on Saturday morning about a woman who was attacked in her house here.
"All the departments concerned rushed to the scene and the injured woman was taken to the nearest hospital for medical care." Brigadier Abdullah Mankhas, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department with RAK police, said they started the investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Brig Mankhas said: "The man was an Asian, identified only as S.S.A, 33." He added that they knew each other.
The CID team, in association with their counterparts in the Abu Dhabi Police, managed to identify and arrest the culprit in just five hours, he added.
"He later confessed to attempting to kill the victim for personal reasons, and a heated argument."
Brig Mankhas said the suspect stabbed the victim, identified simply as Z.B.M, using a sharp knife, and fled the site.
"He sought a friend's help and hid in his house in order to escape from the country."
The RAK Police, armed with the latest devices and well-trained cadres, spoiled all the suspect's plans, he underlined. "It is our premier strategy to prevent and curb crimes."
