The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has cautioned the public not to fall victim to a scam message sent via SMS, which claims to be associated to an initiative by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
The TRA issued a warning regarding such fake messages on its Twitter account, sharing a screengrab of the message that asked residents to reply with a private code that would be sent to them.
The TRA warned that replying to the code would compromise the account of the user. The authority has called on residents to ignore such messages and stay safe.
Earlier, this month, the TRA has cautioned the public not to believe WhatsApp messages about free credits - especially for Emiratis - on the occasion of UAE's 47th National Day.
