Two Asians have been detained in Abu Dhabi for severely beating up a man and pouring boiling water on him after tying him with chains.
Abu Dhabi Police on Thursday said that they had arrested the men after investigations indicated that they attacked the man from GCC with the intention to kill him.
Police said the two suspects had lured the man into one of their homes in Abu Dhabi, where they attacked him with a metal object before putting him into one of their cars and dumping him in the desert leaving him to die.
Colonel Tariq Al Ghoul, Deputy Director of CID at Abu Dhabi Police, said the victim was lured to the house of one of the main suspects who planned the incident with the help of his accomplice - the second suspect who was speaking with the victim on phone.
And on arriving at the suspect's home, the men beat up the victim with a metallic object till he fell unconscious. They then tied him up with chains before pouring hot water on his body.
The suspects then dumped the victim's body in the Abu Dhabi desert.
Colonel Al-Ghoul noted that the victim survived the assault and contacted the police's operations room after waking up. Security patrol vehicles and an ambulance were immediately sent to the scene and transferred the victim to a hospital for treatment.
After an extensive investigation, officers were able to identify the attackers and the house of the main suspect. The force arrested the man along with his accomplice from the house.
Police also collected data about the victim's acquaintances, friends and colleagues.
Colonel Al-Ghoul said that during interrogations, the men confessed to attacking the victim.
The men have been referred to public prosecution.
