Two men, who posed as securitymen and lured, kidnapped and raped a housemaid, were on Wednesday sentenced to seven years each in jail.

The three–member bench of the Fujairah Criminal Court also slapped a fine of Dh10,000 on one of them.

The case dates back to December last year when a Filipina maid reported to the police in Fujairah that she was abducted by two persons claiming to be policemen. The victim said she was lured into their car, and they drove her to a hilly area before they raped her and fled the scene.

Following the report, the police showed the pictures of the two suspects to the victim, who identified them. Police arrested the pair, who were identified as R.S., 19 and M.S., 20, both Emiratis.

They admitted to the charges before the Public Prosecution.
