A.A., 25, was sentenced to six months in jail for trying to enter the country illegally despite a deportation order. Both the defendants will be deported after serving their jail term.

S.N. was charged with using an official authentic document belonging to others -A.A.’s visa- while A.A. was accused of criminal complicity in the use of the document. S.N. was also accused of criminal complicity in A.A.’s attempt to re-enter illegally.

The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.

According to prosecution records, S.N. used A.A.’s visa by submitting it to an officer of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs at the Dubai International Airport. He impersonated A.A., who had been deported earlier, to help him enter the country by taking the iris scan test on his behalf.

An Emirati woman officer said during the investigation that she was on duty at the Iris scan counter at the Arrival Hall of Terminal 2 of the airport. The case dates back to February.

S.N. gave the officer his passport, which bore his details and photo. But the details and photo on the visa, which he showed her, were different from those on the passport. The visa was apparently not his. She called the name written on the passport and S.N. responded that he was A.A.

A.A. admitted during the investigation that he gave his visa to S.N. to impersonate him in front of the residency officer and help him enter the country by deceiving the officer.

S.N. said that he submitted A.A.’s visa to the residency officer to help A.A. pass the iris scan and avoid being caught.
