A man has been charged with forcing his wife into prostitution, by the Sharjah Sharia Court.
He allegedly brought his wife to the UAE, and then asked her to work for him as a prostitute, in order to pay for their accommodation and food expenses, threatening her that she could continue to stay with him only if she did so.
The man, who married her back in his home country, brought her to the UAE and then turned their home into a prostitution den.
Sharjah public prosecutors told the court that he exploited her situation and forced his wife to have sex with other men, often while he was present.
In another case, an Asian was charge with adultery. The case came to light when the man lodged a complaint at Buhaira Police station that his wife was raped by 10 men, when they were in a deserted place. However, the police investigation showed that the couple had an agreement that the wife would have sex with six men, in exchange for money. However, it turned out that more people turned up to have sex with her, after which the the couple refused and fought over the money. The husband then proceeded to lodge the rape complaint with the police.
However, all the men involved denied the charges in court.
The woman had a more sordid story to tell, saying that after their wedding five months ago, her husband demanded that she pay towards their living expenses.
The couples involved in both cases denied that they were involved in prostitution.
The Sharjah Public Prosecution has called for imposing strict penalities on the people involved in both cases.
