A vendor has been cleared by the Court of First Instance of the charge of molesting a 10-year-old boy by kissing and hugging him.
The 24-year-old Bangladeshi earlier denied the charge in court.
The case dates back to March 17 when the Emirati schoolboy went to a grocery in Al Rashidiyah to buy some juice.
"We were playing in the playground then went to a nearby grocery. I was taken by surprise when the vendor hugged me tightly and kissed me on the cheek," the boy said.
The boy called the police with his friend's mobile phone.
The boy's father, a 50-year-old Emirati, quoted his son as telling him that the accused left his shop running when he called the police.
"I came home around 3pm that day and saw a police car outside. They told me that my son had called them."
The father added that the accused did the same to his son a few months earlier.
